Buy a bottle of Twenty Bench and you'll be sipping on wine world serendipity. Back in the fall of 2000 winemaker and viticulturist Jim Regusci (Regusci Wines) bought 20 tons of top notch cab from a friend whose vineyard he had planted and managed. Not exactly sure what to do with the wine, he vinified it separate from his other grapes and marked the barrel it was resting in "Twenty Bench" referring to the 20 tons of fruit and the benchland vineyard the grapes had come from. Fast-forward a year. Two of Jim's friends, marketing and sales gurus James Harder and Jim Gill, said they wanted to make a top notch cab that would retail for less than $20. Jim sampled them on the Twenty Bench from his cellar and, impressed, a partnership was struck. Now on the seventh vintage, Twenty Bench continues to be a delicious cab that over-delivers vintage after vintage for a price that can't be beat.
